The Power of Holy Communion

Holy Communion is an extraordinary service, designed to bring strength and renewal to believers and their families. By partaking in this sacred practice at the beginning of each month, we allow ourselves to settle our spirits before the Lord’s table, especially during times of discouragement. May this message bring such strength and renewal to whatever has discouraged you in this life.

Revisiting the Principles of Tithing

The principles of tithing have timeless roots, dating back to the Patriarchs, Abraham and Jacob, long before the laws of Moses were established. The principle of tithe involves giving one-tenth to the Lord. This practice was confirmed through Abraham's encounter with Melchizedek. After rescuing his nephew Lot, Abraham gave ten percent of his spoils to Melchizedek, symbolizing tithing to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jacob's Promise at Bethel

Jacob’s vow at Bethel further illustrates the ancient roots of tithing. During a divine encounter, Jacob promised to give a tenth of all he accumulated if God would protect and bless him on his journey. This promise, made before the Mosaic Law, emphasizes the enduring principle of tithing.

God's Reservation: The Concept of the Tithe

The concept of tithe parallels God's principle of reservation, as seen in the Garden of Eden. Just as God set aside the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, He sets aside the tithe as holy. "God says in our dispensation, you can have everything about your salary, but He also brings a reservation that the 10% is not yours." This reservation symbolizes what is sacred and belongs to God.

The Tithe as Obligation and Gift

Tithing is both an obligation under the law and a gift in the dispensation of grace. It is where we show our love for God and His work. This dual nature of tithing reflects both a legal and a heartfelt commitment to God's principles.

The Nation of Israel: God's Tithe to the World

The nation of Israel is seen as God's tithe to the world, ensuring their preservation and security. Just as the Levites were a tithe within Israel, Israel itself serves as a tithe for the nations. "The nations of the world are preserved because of the presence of Israel."

Holy Communion: A Source of Strength

Holy Communion plays a crucial role in healing and refreshing believers. Through this sacred practice, God heals our wounds and prepares us for the challenges ahead. Abraham’s strengthened faith after his encounter with Melchizedek, sharing bread and wine, illustrates the empowerment that comes through Holy Communion. This sacred meal prepared Abraham for greater challenges, reinforcing the message that "the journey is not finished."

Conclusion

Embrace the principles of tithing and the transformative power of Holy Communion. Through these practices, God refreshes and strengthens us to face the challenges ahead, not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit. This understanding brings a renewed perspective on the spiritual significance of tithing and the divine empowerment that comes through Holy Communion.
