After His resurrection, Jesus Christ spent 40 days with His disciples, imparting the wisdom of God. Rather than ascending immediately, He chose to address important issues and equip His followers with spiritual strength. His encounters during this time offer profound lessons on the power of personal testimony and God's provision.
In Luke 24:13-32, we read about two disciples on their way to Emmaus, a village 12 kilometers from Jerusalem. These men, not part of Jesus’ inner circle, were deeply disheartened after His crucifixion. Their hopes for the future seemed shattered.
As they journeyed, reflecting on the painful events of Jesus’ death, a stranger joined them. They had no idea it was Jesus Himself, walking with them. As they talked, they invited Him to stay with them for the night. Only during the breaking of bread did they recognize Jesus.
In that moment, their eyes were opened. Luke 24:31 states, "And their eyes were opened, and they knew Him." Their hearts burned with the realization that Jesus had been with them all along. Child of God, when you encounter Jesus, He ignites a burning passion in your heart, expanding your horizons and revealing things unseen by others.
After realizing they had been in the presence of their Master, these men became determined to journey back to Jerusalem. Their encounter with Jesus had given them new strength and purpose. Similarly, when we encounter Christ, we are empowered to go the extra mile and testify about Him.
Later that evening, Jesus appeared to His core disciples, saying, "Peace be with you." The disciples, who were hiding in fear, saw the physical evidence of His crucifixion—His hands and feet bearing the scars. Jesus offered them peace, reassurance, and irrefutable proof of His resurrection.
You may be asking yourself, "Will God truly come through for me?" Take heart! Just as Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples, God will reveal His provision in your life. Hold onto His Word, and you will have a personal testimony of His faithfulness.
