Restoration is a term that has become common in Christian circles, but what does it truly mean? To gain a deeper understanding of restoration, it is essential to comprehend how God views time, value, and creativity. Restoration is not just about regaining what was lost but also about rebuilding and making improvements. Restoration is the process of regaining the value that was lost when something was stolen or taken away. In this message, we will learn about the concept of restoration in the Bible.

The Concept of Restoration in the Bible

The concept of restoration is powerful in the Bible. It reminds us that no matter what we have lost or how far we have strayed from God, He is always ready to restore us to our former glory. In Psalms 51:1, David prays for restoration after committing adultery and murder. Despite his grave sin, God hears his cry and restores him to a place of joy and peace.

Reparation and the Wholeness of Restoration

Reparation is associated with restoration. It refers to making amends for a wrong that has been done. God is not only interested in restoring us, but He is also interested in repairing everything that has been broken and damaged in our lives.

Internal and External Restoration

Restoration goes beyond physical restoration; it also includes internal restoration. A great example is the story of the Shunammite woman. After seven years, God restored everything she lost and gave her something greater than before. (2 Kings 8:1-6)

The Promise of Restoration

In life, we all experience loss, but the promise of restoration is about hope and trust in God's creative power. He doesn't just return what was lost but makes it better. As Joel 2:25-26 reminds us, God will restore the years that were lost.

The Assessment of Loss

When God assesses our loss, He doesn't just restore what we lost; He makes it better. God sees what was stolen or damaged as having increased value, like an antique.

Restoration and Trust in God

Restoration is about gaining more than what was lost. It is about creating something better through God's timing and creativity. Trust in God, and He will restore you completely.
